Pattalam – Don’t join this school

When Hollywood adapted best TV series like ‘X- Files’ and ‘Mr. Bean’ into silver screens, why not Kollywood do it. Happening to be one of the trendsetting TV Series ‘Kana Kaanum Kaalangal’ is still making the best on small screens. Director Lingusamy’s best thought of adapting them into big screens doesn’t get spoiled. But it doesn’t reach up to your expectations on the whole. Looks like Director Rohan Krishna is bit perplexed on making a small screen as well a film…

In no way, the film goes unparalleled from the small screen version. It’s all about couple of young gangs in the school. With everyone bounded with their adolescent age groups, you’ve got to see more clashes, fun, frolics and of course the first loves. Maybe, the earlier versions based on the same concepts ‘Panneer Pushapangal’ would have been the best exemplification. But don’t ever compare it with a worst flick ‘Thulluvadho Ilamai’ where Selvaraghavan urged viewers to watch profanity and raw sex ….

Kindly don’t mistake ‘Pattalam’ to be off that sort. It’s a drama sans worst elements… But, it isn’t a cheerful film to watch and relish.

For the namesake, Nadhiya appears as a school correspondent as well a psychiatrist who disciplines the lives of those students. Alas! Most of the times you see her getting into car and walking stylishly… Nothing else has she got to with this film anymore other than delivering bunch of dialogues in the final part.

Though plotline drawn is more attractive, the screenplay goes flimsy in the latter part. You don’t know why songs appear all of sudden.

On the technical aspects, music and cinematography go under mediocre.

There’s nothing much have we got to analysis on this film. Perhaps, this should’ve been ever shortest review we’ve presented…

As a whole, ‘Pattalam’ has probabilities of surviving in the box office for a week as there aren’t any big releases. With Surya’s ‘Ayan’ taking into the screens by next week, there aren’t any chances for this film to remain in theatres.
